Iowa Law student establishes endowment to help underrepresented students visit campus

Iowa Law student Winnie Uluocha established an endowment that will help cover the costs of visits to the College of Law for students from underrepresented groups. Uluocha, a member of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee at Iowa Law, hopes the endowment will create a more diverse campus.

Book highlights UI faculty research, scholarship

A new book contains a collection of essays from UI faculty that explore the breadth, variety, and goals of UI research and scholarship. The book is titled, "As Far as The Eye Can See: The Promises and Perils of Research and Scholarship in the Twenty-First Century."

Playwright draws on childhood experience for latest production

Leigh Marshall, a MFA playwright in the UI Theatre Arts Program, debuted her play Laterality in February. The play, about twin brothers, one of whom has lung cancer, draws upon Marshall's feelings about death. Marshall's father died of cancer when she was 16 years old.

UI research advances understanding of how children learn words

University of Iowa researchers are partnering with school districts in Cedar Rapids and Iowa City to enroll elementary-age children in novel research to better understand how they identify, and recognize, words. The project, led by Bob McMurray, professor in the UI’s Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences, begins this spring.
