The Figge Art Museum in Davenport will present an exhibit of current works by University of Iowa Studio Art faculty, considered one of the best studio arts public offerings in the country, according to museum spokeswoman Natalie Dunlop.

The Better Futures for Iowans grant awarded to the UI College of Liberal Arts and Sciences' Frank N. Magid Undergraduate Writing Center has launched a dynamic outreach initiative with the Iowa Youth Writing Project.

The annual UI spring job fair will held in the Iowa Memorial Union on Wednesday, Feb. 27, with representatives from 130 employers on hand.

Some 200 undergraduate students at the University of Iowa were named to the President's List for the 2012 fall semester.

The University of Iowa String Quartet Residency Program will present a free public performance by the Linden String Quartet at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 2, in Riverside Recital Hall on the UI campus. The concert is part of the Linden’s extended residency Feb. 26-March 6 at the UI School of Music.

A 2009 study conducted by researchers at the University of Iowa found that that too much support—or over support—could corrode a marriage faster than a lack of support. The study was published in the Journal of Family Psychology.

The UIowa Saxophone Quartet will perform works by Bach, Edvard Grieg, Jun Nagao, Camille Saint-Saens, George Gershwin, and Jean Matitia at 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 4, in Riverside Recital Hall on the University of Iowa campus.

Joe Blair, graduate of the University of Iowa Nonfiction Writing Program, will read from "By the Iowa Sea: A Memoir of Disaster and Love" at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, in a free reading at Prairie Lights Books in downtown Iowa City. The reading also will be streamed live on the University of Iowa Writing University website.

Meenakshi Gigi Durham, a UI journalism professor, discusses the "crazy paradox" of how some book covers use stereotypes of mainstream femininity to visually represent work that challenges those stereotypes in a story on the 50th anniversary edition of The Bell Jar.

The UI School of Music will present the 2013 University of Iowa Orchestra Invitational Gala Concert, performed by the UI Chamber Orchestra and School of Music faculty, at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, in Riverside Recital Hall on the UI campus. The concert is free and the public is welcome.

The University of Iowa Public Digital Humanities for Lunch (PDH4L) series continues a presentation titled "New Ways of Writing in Community" from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, at the Gerber Auditorium in the English and Philosophy Building (EPB).
