The continuing struggle for “a new birth of freedom” following the American Civil War will be the topic of a presentation by Hal S. Chase Thursday, Nov. 1, at 6:30 p.m. in the Senate Chamber of the UI Old Capitol Museum. The event is free and open to the public.

It started out with a bang as the Hawkeye football team took the field amid fireworks for the 2012 season's only night game at Kinnick Stadium. Saturday, Oct. 20 also marked the Black and Gold Spirit Game, one of several official "color games" peppered throughout the season.
