New program designed to help UI's growing Chinese population

About 17 Mandarin speaking volunteers have completed more than 60 hours of training to staff an online chat suicide prevention hotline through the Johnson County Crisis Center, with the goal of supporting the growing population of Chinese students at the UI.

Old Capitol exhibit chronicles Iowan's historic sailing voyages

Iowa native David Thoreson will open his photographic exhibit at the UI's Old Capitol Museum during a reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23. His exhibit, “The Northwest Passage and Oceans Beyond: An Iowan Sails into History,” will be on display Jan. 23 through May 25.
