The University of Iowa welcomed an extremely academically accomplished first-year undergraduate class, as well its most diverse, for the 2014-15 academic year. The class of 2018 is also the UI’s largest first-year class with 4,666 total students, compared to 4,460 in 2013. The previous high was 4,565 in fall 2011.

No confirmed cases of EV-D68 at UI Hospitals and Clinics

Although some Iowa hospitals have confirmed cases of EV-D68, University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics reports no confirmed cases of EV-D68, said Eli Perencevich, professor of medicine at the UI Carver College of Medicine. But doctors have submitted several specimens to be tested. Actual care and management of the virus are very standard and are part of our protocol, he said.

Silver-based coating may reduce germs on hospital surfaces
