Cameron discusses empathy as a choice

UI assistant professor Daryl Cameron and his research colleagues believe that empathy is only as limited as people choose it to be. "The 'limits' to our empathy are merely apparent, and can change, sometimes drastically, depending on what we want to feel," they write in a recent editorial.

Glory to the grass

The University of Iowa has been recognized by the Iowa governor's office for an initiative to use a locally available grass as a renewable energy source. The UI's use of the grass, called Giant Miscanthus, is part of its goal of achieving 40 percent renewable energy consumption by 2020.
