Two UI students awarded the Louis and Dorothy Laubenthal Memorial Scholarship

A scholarship fund honoring an Iowa family’s three generations of commitment to higher education has been awarded to students from Iowa City and Spencer. First-year UI Doctor of Physical Therapy students Katherine Bird and Clare Goeken are recognized as the 2015-16 recipients of the Louis and Dorothy Laubenthal Memorial Scholarship.

Fundamentals of Public Health is an introductory course offered by the UI College of Public Health. Beginning in fall 2016, the UI will also offer a public health bachelor’s program. The Fundamentals course will be part of the undergraduate curriculum.

When Drake Fricke was just one day old, doctors in Marshalltown found a blockage in his colon and sent him to a Des Moines hospital where it was suggested he may have Hirschsprung’s disease, a condition that affects the colon and can make newborns unable to have a bowel movement.
