A spring series of free Lifelong Learning events organized by the University of Iowa Alumni Association (UIAA) kicks off on Feb. 19 with a session on suicide prevention.

The University of Iowa has organized a summit to better prepare pharmacy technicians for their changed role in the marketplace. The first-ever summit, to be held on Feb. 5 in Des Moines, is a partnership with community colleges statewide to education, training, and curriculum development.

The Tippie College of Business is starting a new graduate-level certificate in business analytics (Big Data) that will be offered starting this fall in its downtown Cedar Rapids classrooms. The five-course program will provide Iowa businesses the tools and know-how to get the most out of all the data they’ve gathered over the years.

Pamela Keel, a nationally recognized expert on eating disorders, will deliver two public lectures during a visit to the UI campus June 24 and 25. Keel's visit is co-sponsored by the Obesity Research and Educational Initiative and the Department of Psychiatry in the UI Carver College of Medicine.

Now entering its sixth year, the FUTURE in Biomedicine program places faculty and students from Iowa's primarily undergraduate institutions (PUI) with research faculty in the UI Carver College of Medicine for nine weeks during the summer.
