President Bruce Harreld named Laura McLeran, senior advisor to the president and associate vice president for external relations, the interim vice president for student life starting Jan. 1. McLeran began serving when former Vice President for Student Life Melissa Shivers left the UI to become vice president for student life at The Ohio State University.
Harreld announced in October 2019 that the university would select an internal candidate for the post, and nominations were sought starting in November 2019.
Harreld will make the final selection. McLeran will serve as interim until a permanent replacement is named.
