College of Education receives largest gift in history

Thanks to a generous $15 million gift from the Scanlan Family Foundation, the Iowa Center for School Mental Health in the University of Iowa College of Education will be renamed the Scanlan Center for School Mental Health. The gift will expand clinical support for school mental health and serve the needs of veterans, those serving in the military, and their families.

Reese begins as next university ombudsperson

Chanelle Reese began her tenure as Iowa’s next University Ombudsperson June 21. Reese comes to the University of Iowa from the University of California, Merced, where she was associate ombudsperson.

UI College of Nursing unveils new SIM-IA mobile training units

The University of Iowa Simulation in Motion-Iowa (SIM-IA) program, operated by the UI College of Nursing, unveiled the first of three mobile simulation trucks in June. Tuition increase set for 2022-23 academic year

At its July 27 meeting, the Board of Regents, State of Iowa, approved a proposed tuition increase for the 2022-23 academic year. Tuition is increased for resident and nonresident undergraduates by $355 and graduate students, resident and nonresident, by $443.

Old cap dome gets a shiny facelift

Work to replace the gold leaf on the University of Iowa’s most iconic building began in late May and is entering its final phase. UI photographer Tim Schoon captured these photos of Old Capitol throughout the summer.

Kid Captains will select Hawkeye Wave song for home games this fall

There will no longer be one new song for the Hawkeye wave, but a new soundtrack. For every home game the Iowa football team plays inside Kinnick Stadium this fall, that week’s Kid Captain will help select a song to accompany the Hawkeye Wave.

Iowa athletics to continue alcohol sales program in 2022

The University of Iowa Department of Athletics’ 2021-22 pilot program to expand alcohol sales at UI athletics facilities generated more than $3 million and corresponded with a trend in reduced game day citations and alcohol-related medical calls.
