The University of Iowa search committee for the new associate vice president for diversity, equity, and inclusion (AVP DEI) has selected three final candidates. The candidates will visit campus in March to participate in public forums and meet with administrators, faculty, staff, and students.

The dates, times, and locations of the open forums are as follows:

  • Thursday, March 7, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. in W401, Pappajohn Business Building
  • Thursday, March 14, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the Big Ten Theater, room 348, IMU
  • Monday, March 25, 3 to 4 p.m. in the Big Ten Theater, room 348, IMU

The names of each candidate will be announced in Iowa Now the day before they are scheduled for an open forum. At that time, the candidate’s curriculum vitae will be made available on the AVP DEI search website.

UI President J. Bruce Harreld named the AVP DEI search committee co-chairs and members in July and August 2018, respectively.

The new AVP DEI will replace Georgina Dodge, who left the UI in July 2017 to become associate provost for diversity, equity, and inclusion at Bucknell University, a private institution in Pennsylvania. Vice President for Student Life Melissa Shivers is serving as interim chief diversity officer.

The UI has retained Isaacson, Miller Inc., a national executive search firm, to assist the search.

Harreld will make the final selection after the campus visits.
