UI officials closely monitoring flood forecast
Monday, June 30, 2014

Update: CAMBUS service to Mayflower Residence Hall will be discontinued beginning Tuesday morning July 1. The suspension of service will remain until further notice as the University of Iowa constructs a temporary flood wall to protect the building.

The City of Iowa City will close the two northbound lanes of North Dubuque Street this afternoon (weather permitting) or Tuesday morning to allow for the installation of flood barriers around the University of Iowa’s Mayflower Residence Hall.

Meanwhile, members of the campus community and visitors are urged to find alternate routes until further notice.

The precautionary move is in response to recent and forecast heavy rainfall, which threatens to raise the water in the Coralville Reservoir and Iowa River to flood levels over the next few weeks.
