Preventing student suicide

University Counseling Service Director Sam Cochran says the University of Iowa community suffers an average of two to three student suicides annually. To bring the campus and local community together to prevent future student suicides, Cochran is leading the three-year $270,970 grant, “Leveraging Campus-Community Collaborations to Enhance Suicide Prevention at the University of Iowa.”

UI students announce vegan food truck as downtown project

After spending spring break in Las Vegas, UI students in a class that focuses on downtown Las Vegas have come up with something they believe will enhance the area as part of David Gould's "Reimagining Downtown" project—a vegan food truck.

The University of Iowa offers a free appointment-based service to students, faculty, and staff who are dealing with elder care issues. Through the service, any student, faculty, or staff member can schedule a complimentary one-hour on-campus appointment with an elder specialist, who can address just about any issue, from living arrangements and transportation to insurance and financial issues.
