Before Mason Shepherd was born, his mother, Cindy, went in for her 20-week ultrasound where doctors discovered that her son had stopped growing. The Shepherds were transferred to UI Children’s Hospital for genetic testing, and Mason was diagnosed with Russell-Silver syndrome, a disorder characterized by slow growth before and after birth.

UI Theatre producing new adaptation of 'Imaginary Invalid'

The University of Iowa Department of Theatre Arts will produce a new adaptation of Molière’s "The Imaginary Invalid" that will include new music and choreography from members of the artistic team. The production will open at 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, in the David Thayer Theatre of the UI Theatre Building.

The University of Iowa School of Music will present a free jazz recital by the UI Latin Jazz Ensemble at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, in Riverside Recital Hall on the UI campus. The recital will feature music from composers Rafael Dos Santos (Brazilian pianist/educator and former UI jazz graduate student), Victor Mendoza, Ray Vega, and others.
