After aiding in discovery of the “God particle” that scientists say could unlock mysteries shrouding the origins of the universe, researchers with Iowa State University and the University of Iowa, including UI Physics and Astronomy professor Yasar Onel, are involved in a second experiment they hope will reveal more revolutionary science.

The UI Sailing Club was established 50 years ago in response to the growing national popularity of recreational sailing. It was such a hit that the club hosted its first Big Ten regatta on Lake Macbride just one year later. A reunion is planned this summer.

Four University of Iowa faculty members have won the 2015 President and Provost Award for Teaching Excellence. The recipients are Cinda Coggins-Mosher, Sara Sanders, and Kate Cowles, all in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and Marcy Rosenbaum in the Carver College of Medicine.

The University of Iowa will participate in the annual statewide tornado drill at approximately 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 25. As part of this test the sirens in Johnson County and at the UI will be activated. Because of this test there will not be a siren test on the first Wednesday of April.
