UI/Cedars-Sinai collaboration identifies critical macular-development gene

Scientists have already known how to create new retinal cells from a patient’s skin. This new finding will help determine how nature builds a macula so that scientists may eventually reconstruct an injured one using the patient’s own cells.

Terrence Dahl, ’83 PhD, Vice President of Commercial Manufacturing and Packaging/Labeling, at Gilead Sciences, was recently presented with a College of Pharmacy Distinguished Alumni Award. He leads a team in Foster City, California that is responsible for overseeing the contract manufacturing activities throughout Europe, North America, and Australia.

Robert Kerns, ’96 PhD, was named the John L. and Carol E. Lach Chair in Drug Delivery Technology. Kerns is professor and chair of pharmaceutical sciences and experimental therapeutics at the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy.

Tippie full-time and part-time M.B.A. programs jump in Businessweek rankings

The Tippie College of Business' full-time M.B.A. program jumped 20 spots to 55th place in Bloomberg Businessweek's annual ranking of U.S. M.B.A. programs. The part-time program jumped 24 spots to 52. The Tippie programs are the only M.B.A. programs in Iowa that made the rankings.
