Shivers has 20 years of experience serving students and is currently associate vice chancellor for student life and dean of students at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, a role she has held since June 2014.

A University of Iowa study shows that college admission officers are more likely to accept low-income students if they have a better understanding of the high schools those students attend. The findings will be discussed at a May 22 symposium at the UI College of Education.

The University of Iowa Office of Research and Economic Development is opening the new Research Development Office (RDO) in the hopes of increasing the number of faculty grant proposals for ambitious, collaborative, and possibly multi-institutional research. Iowa high schoolers learn from UI’s celebrated Nonfiction Writing Program

UI geology professor exploring Earth’s history and geological dynamics—at sea

UI earth and environmental sciences professor David Peate is participating in an international expedition to study how Earth’s continents and oceans evolved. The shipboard team is drilling cores in the seabed of the South China Sea, and some of those samples will come to Iowa for analysis.
