Quasars may answer how starburst galaxies were extinguished

University of Iowa astronomers have located quasars inside four dusty starburst galaxies. The discovery may explain why this type of galaxy, where huge numbers of stars were once created, ceased making stars.

UI pharmacy professor works to improve access to lifesaving medications

Partnership among USGS, IGS, and others helps RAGBRAI riders learn what’s under their tires

The U.S. Geological Survey, Iowa Geological Survey, Office of the State Archaeologist, and Iowa Limestone Producers Association are working together to teach RAGBRAI riders about the land that’s rolling by under their tires. The “Learn About the Land” brochure, produced every year, details the bike route’s natural resources.
