UI announces fifth candidate for College of Law dean

Anita Krug, interim Toni Rembe Dean and professor of law at University of Washington School of Law, is the fifth finalist for the next University of Iowa College of Law N. William Hines Dean. She will visit campus Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 26 and 27.

UI engineering students building solar car, driving to all 99 Iowa counties

Members of the UI ASME club at the College of Engineering are building a solar car with hopes of competing in a cross-country race and visiting all 99 Iowa counties. To make their dream come true, they are trying to raise $80,000 through fundraising and sponsorship.

UI College of Engineering’s Annex ushers in new era of education

The Annex at the Seamans Center for the Engineering Arts and Sciences offers additional classroom and research space, including a fluids workshop with high-tech wind tunnel, water channel, towing tank, and channel flume. The Annex also houses the college’s expanded Student Development Center, which offers academic and career counseling.

Luther Smith’s achievements were many. A Tuskegee Airmen pilot, he was a decorated World War II hero. He experienced discrimination throughout his life, especially after the war when he worked as an aerospace engineer, a time when few black men or women held such positions. He was also a Hawkeye.

Mueller sees more affiliations for rural hospitals in the future

Rural hospitals will continue to affiliate with larger hospitals in order to maintain essential health services in sparsely populated areas, says Keith Mueller, professor of health management and policy in the College of Public Health and director of the Center for Health Policy in the Rural Policy Research Institute.
