University of Iowa to partner with Webster City on community projects

The Iowa Initiative for Sustainable Communities at the University of Iowa on Wednesday announced Webster City as its next community partner. About 150 university students, faculty, and staff will work on 10 to 15 projects alongside Webster City officials and community members during the 2018-19 academic year.

UI researchers create orthopedic simulator to improve doctor training, patient outcomes

UI researchers are gearing up to take their orthopedic simulator on the road to train doctors and improve patient outcomes. They will also be running tests to assess how well orthopedic residents who train on the simulator do in the operating room compared to those who don’t get simulator training.

Two years into its existence, the UI’s English and creative writing major has exceeded expectations for enrollment, boasting 526 students in fall 2017. Faculty and students say enrollment in the program shows a passion for creative writing at the UI.

National Advanced Driving Simulator Kicks Off 20th Anniversary Year

As a part of the celebration, NADS is actively engaging the community to highlight the center’s contributions in making Iowa a better place to live. Some of these activities include public lectures, open houses, coloring contests for kids, an honorary simulator-naming competition, and more.
