While their teaching and research missions remain unchanged, two College of Liberal Arts and Sciences departments have new names.

The collaborative atmosphere forged at Studio Arts will soon be found in a state-of-the-art facility—an exciting prospect for students and faculty alike. The facility will feature stunning spaces, premier equipment, and valuable proximity to central campus.

For more than a century, the University of Iowa has offered students like Jessica Pray a chance to realize their potential in the performing and visual arts, helping the arts maintain a fundamental role in higher education.

Mitigation measures like flood response plans and so-called "invisible walls" aren't especially sexy; no ribbon cuttings, groundbreaking ceremonies or speeches mark their implementation. But when a flood hits, mitigation can mean the difference between a building that gets swamped and one that remains dry.

“Foiled Again,” an exhibit of works by students of Professor Virginia Myers, is being held in conjunction with the 23rd annual University of Iowa Summer Foil Imaging Workshop. A public reception will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 5, at the Drewelowe Gallery in Studio Arts Building.

Due to the flooding in Iowa City, which has forced the closure of the UI Theatre Building, Iowa Summer Rep’s 2013 season has changed. "Bad Seed" will be staged in Coralville on a reduced run; "Tommy" will shift to September as part of the 2013-14 Mainstage season. The UI Summer Opera, "Iolanthe," scheduled for July 11-14, will go on as planned.
