The impact of a family friend's death from Huntington disease led McKenzie Wallace to later study the disease at the University of Iowa. Wallace jumped into research early in her undergraduate career, and has also branched off into maternal health.

Caring about people and the planet has earned University of Iowa junior Jeffrey Ding two national recognitions—2015 Truman and Udall Scholarships. Ding, who is pursuing majors in economics, political science, and Chinese, will intern this summer with the U.S. Department of State.
