'Hometown Hawkeyes' at State Fair

“Hometown Hawkeyes” is the theme of a new University of Iowa exhibit at this year’s Iowa State Fair. Life-sized photos of Hawkeye alumni living and leading in Iowa cities will grace the exhibit’s walls to highlight how they are contributing to the vibrancy of Iowa life and culture.

A University of Iowa-led team has found a promising, new way to treat asthma: Target an enzyme in airway lining cells. The finding could lead to the development of drugs that block the enzyme, CaMKII, from excessive oxidation, which can trigger asthma attacks.

Companies with UI ties win state funding

Three companies with ties to the University of Iowa have obtained funding from the state to expand their businesses, create jobs, and further develop their products. The companies, Memcine Pharmaceuticals, Inc., NanoMedtrix, LLC, and Iowa Approach, LLC were awarded direct financial assistance from the Iowa Economic Development Authority.
