The University of Iowa recently named the recipients of the Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award. The awards are given annually to a few of the many graduate teaching assistants who spark learning and creativity in the classroom.

The UI REACH philosophy focuses on helping students with multiple intellectual, cognitive, and learning disabilities become independent and learn to make positive life choices, and this is certainly reflected in the lives of its graduates.

Scott Coffel, director of the Hanson Center for Technical Communication in the UI College of Engineering, is the recipient of the 2016 Lola Lopes Award for Undergraduate Student Advocacy.
