The UI Office of the Provost announced Friday, May 5, the final candidate for the position of dean of the UI College of Nursing. Julie Johnson Zerwic, executive associate dean of the College of Nursing at the University of Illinois at Chicago, will visit campus May 8–9.

The University of Iowa Celebrating Excellence: Discovery and Innovation Awards Ceremony, held April 24, honored faculty, staff, postdoctoral fellows, undergraduates and graduate students, and mentors who have demonstrated outstanding accomplishments in their fields.

During construction on Catlett Residence Hall about 10 a.m. Wednesday, a gas line was hit resulting in a gas leak. Catlett Residence Hall is a new building, currently under construction, and is not occupied by students.

About 4,800 UI students will receive their degrees at spring 2017 commencement ceremonies, which begin May 11 with the College of Pharmacy and end on May 26 with the College of Dentistry. The University of Iowa Office of the President announced Tuesday, May 2, that Salvador Mena, associate vice chancellor for student affairs at Rutgers University–New Brunswick, is the fourth candidate for the position of vice president for student life.
