Financial analysts make more accurate price targets for the stocks they follow if they use more rigorous valuation models, according to a study from the University of Iowa, as portfolios from analysts who used the complex Residual Income Model saw a mean increase of 15 percent in one year, while analysts who used the simpler Price/Earnings Growth ratio decreased in value by 5 percent.
