Obermann Center leading UI participation in Global Midwest humanities consortium

A new initiative to aid interdisciplinary researchers in the humanities has yielded Humanities Without Walls, a consortium of 15 universities throughout the Midwest. The University of Iowa will participate in the initiative through the Obermann Center for Advanced Studies. UI faculty are encouraged to submit an application.

UI hires associate VP for enrollment management

The University of Iowa has hired an associate vice president for enrollment management, a new administrative position to orchestrate the UI’s efforts to recruit and enroll students. Brent Gage starts at the university on Dec. 15. He comes from the University of Alabama-Birmingham, where he has been the associate provost for enrollment management since August 2009.

Bernice Chauly, a diverse artist who has taught creative writing for three years in the American Degree Program at Taylor’s University in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, encouraged three of her students to travel to Iowa City to pursue their undergraduate degrees in creative writing at the UI. Now she's joined them on the UI campus, participating in the International Writing Program.
