Study finds Midwest flooding more frequent

A University of Iowa study that looked at daily records collected by the U.S. Geological Survey at 774 stream gauges in 14 states found that over the last 50 years, the Midwest and surrounding states have been experiencing a larger number of big flood events.

UI Children's Hospital has a nationally acclaimed team of doctors and nurses who treat children with arrhythmias, host an annual conference for these patients and their families, and are leading participants in studies. Amanda Kurovski of Des Moines is one such young person who has benefited. She has an implantable cardioverter defibrillator to manage an arrhythmia, diagnosed when she was 15.
