Jeffrey Reist

Biography

Reist is a clinical associate professor and director of the Pharmacy Practice Laboratory at the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy. He maintains a practice site as the clinical pharmacist on the interprofessional team at UI Hospitals and Clinics Department of Family Medicine Geriatric Clinic. He is a graduate of the UI College of Pharmacy (BS Pharm) and the University of Florida College of Pharmacy (PharmD). He is board certified as a pharmacotherapy specialist by the Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties. Before returning teach at the UI in 2003, Jeff practiced in hospital, community and long-term care pharmacy practices and served as a preceptor to pharmacy students.

Reist's research areas include innovations in teaching, methods to encourage appropriate pharmacotherapy in older adults and improvement in the care of patients with dementia. He is particularly interested in the appropriate treatment of behavioral symptoms in patients with dementia.
