A university search committee has selected two final candidates for the next University of Iowa vice president for medical affairs and dean of the UI Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine. The candidates will visit campus over the next two weeks to participate in public forums and meet with faculty, staff, and leadership at UI Health Care.

The dates, locations, and times of the two open forums are as follows:

  • Tuesday, Oct. 3, 5–6 p.m. in the Prem Sahai Auditorium of the Medical Education Research Facility (MERF)
  • Monday, Oct. 9, 5–6 p.m. in the Prem Sahai Auditorium of MERF

Both open forums will be followed by a public reception from 6 to 7 p.m. in the MERF Atrium.

The names of each candidate will be announced 24 hours prior to their arrival at the UI. At that time, the candidate’s curriculum vitae will be made available on the VPMA search website.

Jean Robillard, who currently holds the position, announced last year plans to step down from his leadership role overseeing UI Health Care, which is composed of the UI Carver College of Medicine, University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, and University of Iowa Physicians.

After UI President J. Bruce Harreld named the search committee co-chairs in October, the committee’s 17 members were announced in November. Isaacson, Miller Inc. was selected as the search firm to assist in the search in March.

President Harreld will make the final selection following the campus visits. Robillard will continue to serve as vice president and dean until the new leader is in place.
