The University of Iowa Veterans Association and Iowa Reserve Officers’ Training Corps honored Iowa’s veterans during the week of Nov. 6–12 with a reveille ceremony and the fourth annual Veterans Day flag display on the west lawn of the Pentacrest.
The nearly 6,000 tiny U.S. flags—each one honoring a veteran connected to the university or community in some way—were planted in the shape of the letter “I” on Nov. 6 by the UIVA with the help of high school students from the Upward Bound program.
On Saturday, Nov. 12, student veterans were invited onto the field during the Veterans Day/Military Appreciation football game to participate in an appreciation ceremony and display the U.S. flag.
