Celebratory week featured traditions old and new
Monday, October 3, 2016

Despite a disappointing 38–31 loss to Northwestern on the football field, the University of Iowa’s 2016 Homecoming festivities provided faculty, staff, students, and alumni with a lot to cheer about throughout the week.

Tuesday’s Ruckus at the Rec featured student competitions like dodgeball and tug-of-war. In what has become a new tradition, students either darkened or illuminated their rooms at Mayflower Residence Hall to spell I-O-W-A on Wednesday night. Thursday brought Iowa Shout on the Pentacrest, leading up to the spectacular Homecoming Parade through the streets of downtown Iowa City on Friday.

After the parade, fans were treated to a free concert by Simple Plan, featuring Wavves, in front of Old Capitol.
