It’s an honor to serve as interim president at this pivotal moment for the University of Iowa. Decades from now, innovation and achievement on almost every front will mark this chapter in our university’s story.
Over the coming months, we’ll welcome a new president and dedicate world-class new facilities. We’ll increase enrollment and expand opportunities for students. We’ll conclude a campaign that’s raising unprecedented levels of private support.
Our faculty, students, and staff have an essential role and a valuable stake in each of these achievements. Wherever you work, whatever you study, you advance our university through your efforts and your example.
Especially at moments like this, we’re reminded that we’re truly one university.
Our success depends on open, consistent communication. I’m committed to providing faculty, staff, and students with weekly online updates, plus engaging in face-to-face conversations with everyone I can meet.
Most of all, I’m committed to helping us continue to move forward, meeting the challenges that arise and shaping our future together.
Fortunately, slowing down is antithetical to our can-do culture. Over the past few months, I’ve spoken with people throughout our community who are eager to create the next era of learning, discovery, and service. That dedication makes us who we are.
Thank you for continuing to aim high and build a top-tier university for Iowa, the nation, and the world.
