The University of Iowa Presidential Search and Screen Committee has narrowed a field of 46 candidates to a pool of nine who will be invited to participate next week in “airport interviews” at an unnamed location.
The 21-member committee, led by Jean Robillard, UI vice president for medical affairs and interim president of the UI, met for more than two hours Aug. 4 to discuss the candidates.
Robillard says the search is on track for the Iowa Board of Regents to name a new president by Sept. 4.
“We have a tremendous pool of candidates with diverse backgrounds and ideas,” he says. “The committee is pleased to have the opportunity to continue our conversations about leading this university with such a strong group of candidates.”
The next steps:
- Aug. 11-12: The committee will host “airport interviews” in Chicago.
- Aug. 31-Sept. 3: Finalists will visit campus.
- Sept. 4: The candidates will meet with the Board of Regents.
