Hawkeye football fans young and old spent a lovely late summer afternoon watching the 2013 squad run through practice at the annual Kids Day at Kinnickon Saturday, Aug. 17.
The Hawkeyes, led by Kirk Ferentz, went through drills before scrimmaging for nearly an hour. After practice, young fans were able to get autographs from players and coaches. Posters, magnets, and pocket schedules for all fall sports were available to the fans.
Fans got a good look at the three quarterbacks competing for the top spot on the depth chart, standout defenders such as senior linebacker James Morris, and exciting playmakers like wide receivers Damond Powell and Tevaun Smith.
The Hawkeyes open the 2013 season Aug. 31 against Northern Illinois at Kinnick Stadium.
