Visitors have only a few more days to see the popular exhibit “Insects: A Collection in Multiple Dimensions,” which will end its run at the Old Capitol Museum on Sunday, Aug. 5.

The exhibit, created by recent University of Iowa M.F.A. graduate Kevin Chamberlain, features prints and three-dimensional artwork based on the UI Museum of Natural History insect collection, alongside specimens from the collection itself.

Visitors can meet Chamberlain at the closing reception from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 2, in the UI Pentacrest Museums Gallery for Arts, Humanities, and Sciences. Refreshments and a cash bar will be available. The reception will include a children’s party with hands-on insect activities, such as exploring the life cycle of caterpillars into butterflies.

Signed, limited edition prints, including those featured in the exhibit, and sponsorships of featured insect specimens are among the items included in a silent auction currently being held in conjunction with the exhibit. Interested visitors can bid in the gallery or by email until 5 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 5. Email bids should be sent to rebecca-pope@uiowa.edu.
