Political philosopher Larry May will give a series of lectures on the University of Iowa campus Oct. 16-18 as an Ida Cornelia Beam Distinguished Visiting Professor.

May has published more than 30 books and has performed considerable work on issues of international criminal law, collective responsibility, and war. He currently serves as a professor of law and political science at Vanderbilt University in Tennessee, and is a faculty member at the University of Pennsylvania Center for Ethics and the Rule of Law.

  • Wednesday, Oct. 16, at 12:40 p.m. in the UI College of Law faculty lounge, "The UN Charter, Human Rights Law, and Contingent Pacifism"
  • Thursday, Oct. 17, at 7 p.m. in 40 Schaeffer Hall, "Traditional and Contingent Pacifism." A reception will follow at the North Room, IMU.
  • Friday, Oct. 18, at 3:30 p.m. in 109 English-Philosophy Building, "Innocence and Complicity"
