The University of Iowa Department of Theatre Arts will hold auditions Feb. 22-23 for four, Non-Equity actresses/singers for the 2014 summer tour of Respect: A Musical Journey of Women, part of the Iowa Summer Rep Tour 2014.

General auditions for these paid roles will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, in Rooms 166 and 172 of the UI Theatre Building. Callbacks will be held between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23 (callback lists will be posted Saturday evening). Rehearsals will begin May 19; the 10-performance tour will take place June 14-29.

Performers should prepare:

  • 16-32 bars of a contemporary pop/rock song. An accompanist will be provided. Those auditioning will also have access to a CD player and speakers for an MP3 player.
  • One two-minute contemporary monologue. All performers may be asked to do cold readings of scenes from the show.
  • Actresses also will be asked to participate in a movement callback where you will be asked to learn a few dance steps.
