Visiting artist Dennis Farber will give a public lecture at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, in Room 116 of Art Building West.

Farber has made paintings, photographs, and collages for a long time. He came to the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in 1998 from the University of New Mexico after 25 years in both the New York and Los Angeles art worlds. Farber is a faculty member and associate dean in the Foundation Department at MICA.

Farber’s work has been exhibited regularly in the United States and abroad. It was included in the Museum of Modern Art’s millennial exhibition, OPEN ENDS, 1960- present, Innocence and Experience, and traveled in major museum exhibitions by the Museum of Modern Art and the Jewish Museum in New York. His work is in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art, New York; the LA County Museum; the Brooklyn Museum; the Corcoran Gallery of Art; the Jewish Museum, New York; the Fine Arts Museum, Houston; and a number of other museums and collections national and international.

His awards include the Adobe Magazine Design Award, a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship, Polaroid Grants for their 20” x 24” camera, and a New York Foundation for the Arts Individual Artist Fellowship.
