For each of the past 12 years, art patrons have gathered for the annual Museum Party to commemorate the year’s achievements and pledge support for upcoming projects at the University of Iowa Museum of Art (UIMA).
The theme of the 2014 Museum Party is “Splatter to Sparkle—Join the Journey.” The theme is inspired by a two-year conservation treatment of UIMA’s Jackson Pollock’s Mural, the conclusion of which will be marked when the epic painting goes on display at the J. Paul Getty Museum, Los Angeles, on March 10, 2014. The UIMA is celebrating this milestone and its exciting future at the April 12, 2014, Museum Party.
To mark the occasion, the UIMA is seeking 12 artists to create wearable works of art inspired by Pollock’s Mural. All submissions will be blind juried. Works will be featured in a fashion show at the Museum Party, where guests will vote and three prizes will be awarded. Works will then be displayed for two weeks in downtown Iowa City.

After the June 2008 flooding of the UIMA's former Riverside Drive home, the building was deemed unsuitable for the return of artwork. However, the UIMA collection was saved, and through the use of temporary facilities and creative outreach, the museum continues to offer the invaluable experience of art to the university, the community, the state of Iowa, and beyond.
