Need something unique for someone special on your holiday shopping list? Head down to the University of Iowa campus Dec. 7-8 for the Holiday Thieves’ Market and Wine Tasting.

Presented by the UI Fine Arts Council, the annual indoor exhibition and sale will feature artwork from more than 100 artists from across the Midwest and beyond. Original work will include painting, ceramics, photography, woodworking, drawing, metal, glass, jewelry, fiber, and more.

The show, which is free and open to the public, will take place in the Iowa Memorial Union from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8. A wine tasting will be held between noon and 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Active since 1970, the Fine Arts Council is a self-supporting, nonprofit student organization whose members share an interest in promoting the arts at the UI. Its mission is to provide support for and be a resource to UI artists. It holds two art shows each year—the Holiday Thieves’ Market in the winter, and the Riverbank Art Fair in the spring—for which students of all majors and backgrounds work on marketing, advertising, logistics, management, and event planning.

Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all UI-sponsored events. If you are a person with a disability who requires a reasonable accommodation in order to participate in this program, or to learn more on the history of the show, talk to participating artists, or get additional details, contact Lauren Wallace in advance at lauren-wallace@uiowa.edu or 319-335–3393.
