University of Iowa students, faculty, staff, and the general public are invited to the Military and Veteran Student Services Open House from 12:30 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, in the newly remodeled office located at 111 Communications Center on the UI campus.

The event is free and open to the public, and refreshments will be served. The Military and Veteran Student Services office is part of the Center for Diversity and Enrichment in the UI Chief Diversity Office.

UI President Sally Mason, VA Medical Center Director Barry Sharp, and UI Chief Diversity Officer and Associate Vice President Georgina Dodge will give welcome remarks at 1 p.m., and the office will be open all afternoon for people to tour. While there, visitors can also view the new location for the Chief Diversity Office's Diversity Resources Team.

The space will showcase new furniture and technology, including upgraded computers as well as a new large-screen television.

"Investment in new furniture and technology in the Military and Veteran Student Services space represents the university’s investment in the success of all of its student veterans," Dodge says. "While you’re here, feel free to stop by the new office locations of the Diversity Resources Team, which will allow a wonderful partnership that integrates veteran culture into the landscape of campus diversity."
