Association of Art Museum Directors (AAMD) Art Museum Day is Saturday, May 18. To celebrate, the University of Iowa Museum of Art is offering free admission at its temporary locations on that date, including the Figge Art Museum in Davenport.
A Legacy for Iowa: Modern Masterworks from the University of Iowa Museum of Art, featuring works by Max Beckmann, Henri Matisse, Joan Miró, Pablo Picasso, Marsden Hartley, and Robert Motherwell from the UIMA permanent collection, is on display at the Figge. Eye on UI Faculty: Byron Burford, Stuart Edie, James Lechay, an exhibition of paintings in memory of three UI School of Art and Art History faculty members is also on display.
Other temporary exhibition spaces, the UIMA@IMU and Black Box Theater, both located in the Iowa Memorial Union on the UI campus, are always free and open to the public.
