A song commissioned by the University of Iowa’s Hancher is moving from the stage to screen. “You Have More Friends than You Know,” which Hancher commissioned as part of the creation of It Gets Better, will be sung on Glee during the episode airing on April 18.

It Gets Better premiered in Iowa City under Hancher’s auspices. The musical, written and directed by Liesel Reinhart and featuring members of the Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles, tackled the issues surrounding the bullying of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender youth.

In addition to presenting the world premiere of the work, Hancher commissioned an original song composed by Mervyn Warren, a five-time Grammy winner and original member of Take 6, and Jeff Marx, perhaps best known for his work on the Broadway musical Avenue Q.
