University of Iowa Women’s Health has launched an e-newsletter to provide Iowa women of all ages with updates on consumer health topics.
The publication, called Uniquely You, discusses midwifery at the UI, urogynecology, and a way to celebrate and individualize pregnancy called Centering Pregnancy. In addition, Uniquely You has a regular feature called “What’s Up With That?” in which UI physicians answer personal questions women frequently raise with their providers.
“Women in Iowa are an important audience for the University of Iowa, and health is a big, big issue for them,” says Jessica McAllister of UI Women’s Health. “What we’re doing with Uniquely You is to reach out to women across the state to address issues and concerns we hear women talk about in our clinics.”
According to McAllister, Uniquely You is designed to recognize and celebrate the individual while drawing on the experiences of women with similar cares and concerns.
“Women’s health needs and concerns change as they go through life," she says. "For example, a young woman’s top concern maybe about reproduction issues while a woman in her 40s may be thinking more about breast cancer screening. For a woman in her 60s, the issue may well be bone health. And across all ages are issues like mental health, nutrition, and so on.”
Uniquely You will be distributed quarterly via email. Subscription is free and available to anyone at uiowa.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_cGUaYmuzyjdJCCN.
