Free family movie slated Oct. 9 in MNH Biosphere Discovery Hub

Dinosaur Wars, a PBS movie, will be screen at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 9, at the University of Iowa Museum of Natural History.

The University of Iowa Museum of Natural History continues its fall Movies@MNH series at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 9, in the Biosphere Discovery Hub of Macbride Hall. This month’s movie is an hour-long PBS special titled Dinosaur Wars.

Join us for the gripping story of late 19th-century paleontologists Edward Cope and O.C. Marsh as they search the American West for previously undiscovered dinosaur species.

The movie series is a free family event open to the public.

The showing will be followed by a discussion of the effect “the Bone Wars” had on the development of the field of paleontology and natural history museums and how they continue to affect them today.

The Nov. 4 Movies@MNH feature is Lost Nation: The Ioway, offered in celebration of Native American Heritage Month and in anticipation of the world premiere of the next two films in the Lost Nation trilogy, which will take place at the UI Museum of Natural History on Dec. 8.
