Michele Conlon, head tennis professional at the University of Iowa Recreational Services, was recognized Sept. 2 as a recipient of the inaugural 35 x 35 President’s Impact Award by the U.S. Tennis Association. 

The award honors individuals and organizations from across the country who have made an impact on the sport at the national, sectional, or community levels in the last two years. 

"This is truly a team award,” says Conlon. “Fred Pederson, Mili Oliver, Brad DiLeo, and our staff are contributing to the growth of tennis every day. Our administrators are providing tremendous support, and our patrons are enthusiastically participating." 

Conlon played tennis at Iowa and was the team’s top singles and doubles player from 1983–87.  She served as head coach at Iowa State University from 1994–2008 and has been Iowa’s head tennis professional since 2008.

Conlon was recognized during Fan Week in September at the 2026 US Open in New York City.
