Executive Vice President and Provost Kevin Kregel has named Ann McKenna, dean of the College of Engineering, and Adam Dupuy, associate professor in the Carver College of Medicine, as co-chairs of the search committee for the next associate provost for graduate and professional education and dean of the University of Iowa Graduate College.

McKenna became dean of the College of Engineering in August 2023, coming to Iowa from Arizona State University, where she served as vice dean of strategic advancement at the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering. Before her time at Arizona State, she served as a program director at the National Science Foundation in the Division of Undergraduate Education.

Dupuy joined the faculty of the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology in the Carver College of Medicine in 2006 and has a secondary appointment in the Department of Pathology. He serves as co-director of the Cancer Biology Program and holds graduate program affiliations with biomedical science, genetics, and the medical scientist training program. In addition, Dupuy is the program director and founder of the Cancer Biology subprogram within the Biomedical Sciences Program.

Faculty, staff and students will join McKenna and Dupuy on the search committee, with the complete membership to be announced on the dean search website soon.

The UI is conducting an internal search for the position, with appointment of the next associate provost for graduate and professional education and dean of the Graduate College anticipated by July 1. Tenured full professors at Iowa who are interested in the position are invited to apply. For more information about the position and how to apply, please see the Graduate College dean search website.

The new dean will succeed Amanda Haertling Thein, who announced in January she accepted the position of dean at the University of Colorado Boulder School of Education.
