A team of divers will be conducting survey work in the Iowa River on the University of Iowa campus on Oct. 22—25. This work was contracted by the city of Iowa City and is related to the city of Iowa City’s future project to replace the Burlington Street bridges.
Trained divers will be working in the Iowa River about 600 feet upstream and downstream of the Burlington Street roller dam to conduct visual surveys to identify threatened and endangered aquatic species and habitats.
Divers will be on the banks of the river and will look to gain access to the river at the nearest entry points near the UI Water Plant and the UI Power Plant.
The divers are from Bio-Survey Group, a subcontractor on the city of Iowa City project.
