University of Iowa faculty, staff, students, and alumni have been named to the search committee for a new dean of the College of Law.
Executive Vice President and Provost Kevin Kregel has named Amanda Haertling Thein, associate provost for graduate and professional education and dean of the Graduate College, and Todd Pettys, the H. Blair and Joan V. White Chair in Civil Litigation, as co-chairs of the committee.
Thein was named associate provost for graduate and professional education and dean of the Graduate College in July 2021. Prior to joining the college, she spent five years as associate dean for faculty and academic affairs in the UI College of Education.
Pettys has served as the H. Blair and Joan V. White Chair in Civil Litigation since 2009. He joined the College of Law faculty in 1999. He specializes in constitutional law, federal courts, and the Supreme Court.
Joining Thein and Pettys on the search committee will be:
- Dawn Barker Anderson, professor of legal analysis, writing, and research
- Amanda Bibb, administrative services manager, College of Law
- Maja Eaton, president of the Iowa Law School Foundation
- Angela Greenwald, vice president, UI Center for Advancement
- Cesar Rosado Marzan, Edward L. Carmody Professor of Law and director of graduate studies and visitors program
- Joann Mulholland, third-year JD candidate, College of Law
- Daria Fisher Page, associate dean for clinical programs and clinical professor of law
- Sean Sullivan, professor of law and Bouma Faculty Fellow in Law
The new dean will succeed Kevin Washburn, who announced in June that he will step down at the end of the year.
The search firm WittKieffer has been selected to assist with the process.
